Kirchhoff's voltage law (KVL) states that the sum of voltages across the components in any closed network loop is zero. KVL is based on the principle of energy conservation. The energy of an electron that makes a round trip around the loop is unchanged. KCL for the three components in the loop is 6 V - 2 V - 4 V = 0 V. The voltage source "lifts" a positive charge from ground (energy supplied), then the charge "drops" back to the ground through the resistors (energy dissipated). #elctronicsengine
