The Fastnet Rock Lighthouse stands 179 feet above mean sea level. It is a magnificent feat of engineering built on a rock in the North Atlantic Ocean, 4 miles south west of Cape Clear Island The first Fastnet Lighthouse was built in 1853 and was a cast iron tower which was too weak to survive.
