Few groups can rival The Crusaders when they put their virtuosity to work for the sake of groove. This Swiss concert from the 1987 Lugano Estival Jazz festival comes rather late in the history of the group, which was founded in Houston in the fifties. Originally known under the name "The Jazz Crusaders" during their hard bop period, they shortened their name in 1971, when they adopted a jazz-funk style, incorporating an electric guitar and bass guitar into their music.
