Take a closer look at Barbara Hepworth's sculpture Corymb, 1959... Working in bronze from the mid-1950s allowed Hepworth to open up her forms in a new way. She could place these robust metal works outdoors amidst the plantings of her walled garden in St Ives. Hepworth developed a method of using extruded aluminium and plaster to create open and expanding forms, which gave rise to this sculpture.
