Elands Bay (Elandsbaai) is a relaxed fishing and surfing village situated on South Africa’s West Coast, about 220 km north of Cape Town or 2 ½ hour drive. Wedged between the Atlantic Ocean and the Verlorenvlei lagoon, it is known for its world class left hand point break at Baboon Point, which draws surfers from around the world. Hundreds of thousands of crayfish washed ashore at Elands Bay. Locals say it's because of an intense red tide. Red tides occur naturally off of coasts all over the world.
